I
am quite sure every person reading this web page will have been affected or known someone who has had to deal with cancer
Lodge Lord Bruce is now appealing for your assistance by making a donation to help and assist
                                                                St Columba's Hospice Edinburgh.
In July 2001 St Columba's Hospice got permissiom from Edinburgh Corporation
to open a charity shop at 223 Morningside Road Edinburgh on the understanding that they would only be allowed to sell second hand books.
My Aunt along with several volunteers started the launch by putting out a request for second hand books.
In that year 2001, I asked members and friends of Lodge Lord Bruce if they could donate books in order to get the shop up and running. To say we were overwhelmed by the response is an understatement.
I literally delivered hundreds  of books to there depot in Granton in order for the books to be priced and ready for sale.
Eight Years and eight months  on and the bookshop has proved to be a great success and is a valuable source of income to the hospice and yes at the age of 88 my Aunt still works voluntary in the bookshop.
Lodge Lord Bruce is now launching a new appeal for your second hand books, Fiction, Non fiction, Paperback, Hardback is most welcome.
I would ask that magazines such as The Readers Digest, National Geographic's etc are not good sellers and with all respect would not be required.
Any second hand books you would like to donate will be greatly appreciated..
A large box will be left within the front door entrance of the Lodge (Kidd Street of Bathgate Road Blackburn) where you can drop off the books and I will endeavour to collect as often as possible.
If you are unable to drop of your books at the lodge and have an excessive amount of books you would like to be collected, please contact Davie Mitchell Club Manager for my telephone number or email me:
chasrog@blueyonder.co.uk and I will arrange an uplift.
I look forward once again  to a great response and remember we are not asking for money, just your second hand books.
No matter if the books  sell for 30 pence or £10 every penny is going towards a very worthwhile cause.
Thank You in anticipation for your  response
                                                                          Bro. Charlie Rogerson P.M.
